Frequently Asked Questions –  GW5100 No Lint 

Q: What is DiamondKnit? 

A: It is RPD’s unique double knit technology that provides a stronger tensile strength for better resistance against snagging.  

Its higher durability ensures fabric integrity to prevent tearing when running through abrasive surfaces or sharp metal edges. 

Q: Are the cloths reusable / autoclavable / washable? 

A: Yes, these cleanroom cloths can be laundered in a washing machine, and sterilised to be reused. HOWEVER, reusing is highly not recommended for cleanrooms and critical surfaces. You may reuse them for other purposes for example general cleaning in common areas.  

Bear in mind, 100% polyester wipes are great for oils and grease but has lesser absorbency on liquids.  

Q: What are laser sealed edges for? 

A: Laser sealed edges means that the cloth is cut using laser (versus other methods like knife-cut). Laser sealed cutting ensures better precision of cut and also seals off the edges with heat to prevent release lint and fibers.  

Additionally, a sealed edge also provides extra durability and material integrity so that the cloth holds its shape and does not release lint and fibers when wiping sharp edges or abrasive surfaces.  

Q: What cleanroom class is it suitable for?  

GW5100 No Lint is design for Cleanrooms Class 1000 – 100,000 (ISO 6-8). 

Q: Can it be used on other applications other than cleanrooms? 

A: Generally, GW5100 No Lint polyester cloth can be used in any application where a lint free, abrasive free wiping material is needed.  

The product can also be used to wipe hot machinery up to 205°C or polishing metal and sensitive surfaces. It can also be used to absorb or apply chemical solutions such as isopropyl alcohol and adhesives. It’s extra resistance to snagging, thanks to our unique DiamondKnit™ technology, also makes it a good wiper for sharp edges and abrasive surfaces.  

Additionally, it can be used as a lining to protect fine or fragile equipment / instruments / parts.  

Q: Can this be used to absorb liquid/solvents?  

Q: How good is the absorbency for this polyester cloth? 

GW5100 No Lint is highly absorbent on oils, gasoline and grease. It can also withstand chemical solvents. 

However, if the nature of your business requires mainly soaking of liquids, you may consider our other products like the GW 1109 Pro.  

Q: What packaging does the product come in? 

GW5100 No Lint is double bagged. It comes in a vacuum-packed inner bag that is inserted into a plastic outer bag.  

Q: How do I differentiate between the regular product and the ESD safe variant? 

Our ESD-safe and Regular version of GW5100 No Lint are essentially the same. The only difference is that the ESD-safe version has been treated with an anti-static coating to dissipate electrical charges so that it does not cause a spark during wiping. This means that you will not be able to tell the difference merely by sight.  

To help consumers differentiate between the two, an ESD label is stuck on each ESD-safe product.  

Q: Is this polyester cleanroom cloth certified for ROHS compliance? 

Yes. We have been tested and certified compliant against the 10 hazardous substances outlined by the ROHS directive. 

Q: Are there other sizes available (eg: 4x4inch)? 

A: The product is currently available in two sizes; 9’X9’ and 12’X12’. Depending on the size of your order, we are able to provide customisable solutions for you (subject to manufacturing capabilities). 

Q: Will there be linting when I use the No Lint cloth on abrasive surfaces? 

A: Because the product is constructed as a knitted cloth instead of a non-woven wipe, it is more likely for snagging or running to occur when used on sharp edges or abrasive surfaces, instead of linting. 

Q: What is the difference between GW5100 No Lint compared to similar generic products or international brands. 

A: Brandless or generic products are may not offer you the same consistency and precision as our product as they are not subject to the same quality control. More importantly, our products have been tested and certified against international safety standards, like the ROHS directive. So you get the peace of mind that you need when it comes to audits on compliance and quality of your end products. 

Our GW5100 No Lint is comparable to similar products from leading brands in all aspects in terms of quality, safety and compliance. Additionally, our products are sold at a lower price and there will be minimal stock disruptions locally. You are able to get your orders within 48 – 72 hours.  

Q: Can this be used with chemicals and solvents such as IPA, acetone and others? 

Polyester has excellent resistance to most substances. It is compatible with regular cleaning chemicals such as Isopropyl Alcohol and Acetone.  

However, it may not withstand chemicals with strong alkaline properties. If chemical compatibility is a concern for you, we would gladly provide you with a product sample so you can test it against your regular cleaning chemicals before committing to a purchase.
