Q: What is GW-5200 Purity made of?  

A: GW-5200 Purity is made up of a composition of 70% viscose and 30% polyester. We are proud to say that the 30% polyester component in the wipes are produced from post-consumer plastics from used drinking water bottles. Repurposing these plastic helps to reduce the burden of plastic products in our landfills.   

Q: What kind of plant based content is in GW-5200 Purity ?  

A: 70% of GW-5200 Purity is made up of viscose. Viscose is made from cellulose pulp extracted from various parts of plants like bark, wood or leaves. The source of these plants can come from trees or bamboo. 

Q: If GW-5200 Purity has a high plant-based content, does it make it biodegradable or recyclable?  

A: With the right conditions and time, even plastics are biodegradable (450 years, according to a quick search on Google). A common misconception is that only natural materials are biodegradable.  

That said, used wipes are hardly recyclable due to its contaminated state. There are no willing party or available technology that is widely available (as of 2022) that are able to manage this type of waste product in Malaysia.  

As a concept, when buried in soil, 70% of GW-5200 Purity will decompose naturally and turn into soil. Greenwipes® aims to transition all our products into 100% plant based and fully compostable in the future. 

However, GW-5200 Purity is washable and reusable, therefore, is a good option if you are concerned about reducing your waste and consumption. 

Q: What is Aquaknitify™?  

A: AquaKnitify is RPD’s proprietary process that first converts recycled PET (polyethylene terephthalate) bottles to create a POLYESTER YARN. This yarn is then fused with a layer of cellulose (paper) using only water jet pressure to create a polyester-paper hybrid product that is ‘strong as cloth, absorbent as paper’.’ 

Q: Why is it important for a wiper to be ESD safe? Is GW-5200 Purity ESD safe?  

A: Electrostatic discharge or ESD is a sudden flow of electrical current when two charged objects come in contact with each other, resulting in a sudden jolt. In Electronics Manufacturing, even a small spark caused by ESD can cause permanent damage in electrical components or a fire or explosion, resulting in huge losses. Therefore, these facilities need to ensure that their wiping materials are ESD safe, or static dissipative. 

GW-5200 Purity is tested to be ESD safe and can be used on electrical components and manufacturing facilities with peace of mind. 

Q: What cleanroom class can GW-5200 Purity be used in? 

GW-5200 Purity can be used in cleanrooms ISO Class 7 or Class 10,000 and above and on sensitive surfaces that require abrasion-free, contaminant-free cleaning. 

Q: Can I use GW-5200 Purity with chemicals like Acetone and Isopropyl Alcohol? 

A: Yes. GW-5200 Purity is manufactured without any chemical binders using our proprietary Aquaknitify™ Technoloy. This means that the wiper is only woven entirely out of high-pressure water jets. Therefore, the material does not dissolve or leech chemicals onto surfaces when used with strong cleaning chemicals such as IPA and Acetone. 

Q: What is ‘FDA compliant’? And what does it mean for my business if it is FDA food safe?
A: To be FDA compliant, a cleaning material must be deemed ‘food safe’. This means that it does not contain health hazards like heavy metals and does not leech chemicals when used in food preparation environment.  

Greenwipes GW5200 PURITY is tested and certified to be safe to use on all types of food handling surfaces and equipment. A food safe wiping material is also a desirable option for pharmaceuticals and cosmetics manufacturing and laboratories, especially when contamination is a concern.

Q: What can I use GW-5200 Purity for?  

A: You can use GW-5200 Purity for most general cleaning in your workplace, especially in places that requires low particle and contaminants. It is flexible and lightweight, while maintaining good tensile strength. This means that it is thin enough to fit through narrow areas in machinery and clean fine parts without tearing apart.
